As many of you know, last year I welcomed £20m of funding for Weston from this Labour government’s Pride in Place programme. And since then I’ve been out and about, speaking to local residents at coffee mornings and listening to their ideas about how to use this transformational investment.
As this work gathers pace, I’m delighted that the Reverend Daron Medway has agreed to chair our Neighbourhood Board. He is a well-respected part of the Weston community, and someone who will be well known to many local people as the minister at Holy Trinity Weston, Southampton UK. I can’t wait to start working with him as we take this exciting project forward!
How you can be involved
Applications have also opened for local people to apply to be members of the Neighbourhood Boards, where as part of a team of volunteers, you will help to agree priorities for future investment. This is a real opportunity for people who live in the area and who love the area to put themselves forward and play their part in making sure this once-in-a-generation funding delivers a better future for Weston.
You’ll find more information and can apply by visiting Southampton City Council’s website.
