I’m delighted to share that this Labour government is helping to bring a new free breakfast club to Hightown Primary School in Thornhill.
I’ve already visited two free breakfast clubs that this government has helped to open right here in my constituency, and have seen why they’re such a hit with parents, carers and pupils. They help make sure children are ready to learn as well as more time with friends for games, reading and activities.
But feeding kids is only part of the story. Crucially, they mean families get more help with childcare at the start of the school day – at no extra cost to them. It means those parents can drop their children off earlier, helping them get into work, giving them more time back to juggle busy mornings, and saving on childcare costs.
Late last year I wrote to the Secretary of State to personally support Hightown Primary School’s application for a breakfast club – and I’m delighted that they’ve been selected.
I’m looking forward to visiting the new breakfast club at Hightown Primary School when it opens.
