I’ve launched a new week-long politics summer school for young people aged 15-17 who either live in,  attend a school or are home-educated in my constituency.

Running from Monday 27 to Friday 31 July and free to attend, the week-long programme will include Southampton-based workshops covering policy development, media and crisis management, a trip to Parliament featuring a guided tour, and a final project day where participants will use the skills and knowledge gained during the week to design a youth-focused campaign.

This has been an ambition of mine since I was elected and my team and I have been working with partners across the city, including local media, travel and hospitality businesses and others to create a unique five-day educational experience. I hope that this will provide local young people with an immersive and varied introduction to the world of public policy, politics and communication. I’m expecting the limited number of places to fill up quickly so am encouraging anyone interested to get their applications in as soon as possible!

Applications are open until Friday 26 June. This page has a link to the application form and answers to Frequently Asked Questions. And if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me.
