This is a really exciting time for housebuilding in Southampton with development ramping up at many sites across the city.
But none of this is possible without the skilled workers needed to get the job done.
That’s why I’m really pleased that the government has today announced a huge £96 million investment to train the next generation of construction workers. Better yet, some of this will happen right here in Southampton, with South Hampshire College Group chosen as one of the pioneers for new qualifications.
These in turn will help ensure that there is strong pipeline of skilled workers to ensure that we can keep up the pace and deliver the safe, secure, and affordable homes that Southampton needs.
