You’re invited to my online discussion about SEND reforms

Following my coffee morning in April for parents and carers of children with SEND, I’m holding an online discussion to give people another opportunity to discuss wide-ranging reforms to SEND education.

I’ve had some really constructive discussion about reforms to SEND education with people in Southampton. It was clear from our conversations that there are lots of views on the government’s proposed changes – many positive, but some also more mixed – and I’ll be feeding these back to ministers and my colleagues in Westminster.

I’ve always said that I want to hear from SEND parents and carers in Southampton to make sure we get these much-needed changes right, which is why I’m holding another event for people who were unable to attend the coffee morning or who would prefer the online event.

The details:

When: Wednesday 6 May 2026, 7-8pm

Where: Online. An MS Teams link will be sent to attendees who have booked their place a day or two before the event.

Spaces will need to be limited to ensure that everyone has the chance to have their say in the time that we have. To ensure that I hear from as many people as possible, I’ll be allocating spaces to people who did not attend my coffee morning in April.
