You’re invited to my next next coffee morning on Saturday 28 March where we’ll be discussing online safety for young people in Southampton.
I’ve arranged this coffee morning after the government recently announced proposals to improve protections for young people online, including potential age restrictions on services such as gaming sites and chatbots.
Online safety for young people is a big concern for parents and carers in Southampton. It’s something that is regularly raised with me on doorsteps and on school visits, and last year, nine in every 10 people who filled in my survey said they wanted to see more protection for young people online.
I’m looking forward to discussing this in just under two weeks’ time and understanding more about what parents, carers – and of course young people – in Southampton want to see from these changes.”
The coffee morning will be held from 10.30am-12 noon on Saturday 28 March at a location in Bitterne. People can register for a free place by filling in this form and the location will be confirmed to attendees around 24 hours before the event.
