I’m really pleased that Satvir Kaur, MP for neighbouring Southampton Test, and I were able to get some of our local small businesses some time with the Small Business Minister earlier this week.
This was not just a photo op. It was a constructive and frank discussion and an opportunity for local businesses to share their views. They were honest about the challenges they’re facing but were also willing to listen as we set out how taking difficult policy choices has enabled us to put the economy on a much firmer footing.
It remains tough for many, but there are grounds for optimism, with interest rates falling, bills coming down and better pay leading in time to more money in people’s pockets to spend in their local businesses. At the same time, Satvir and I recognise there is more to do and we will continue to ensure Southampton’s businesses are heard in Westminster and in government.
If you have a small business and there is anything I can help with as your MP, please do get in touch.
