I’m delighted to welcome the news that Great British Energy will be funding solar panels for Oasis Academy Sholing here in Southampton Itchen.
The Labour Government has today announced details of the 250 schools set to benefit from Great British Energy’s expanded scheme, and I’m pleased that Oasis Academy Sholing is set to receive clean power funding that will cut energy bills and support the school for years to come.
This programme, the first major project from our publicly owned energy company, means less money wasted on energy bills and more funding going directly into frontline education. Over its lifetime, the scheme could save schools thousands of pounds, showing the real difference clean, secure power can make for local communities.
I said I would bring extra investment into Southampton’s schools, and this is exactly the kind of long-term, practical support I want to see for our city.
This fantastic investment by Great British Energy in Oasis Academy Sholing will mean lower bills, greater energy security, and more resources directed into the thing that really matters: supporting our young people.
Through Great British Energy, Labour is delivering energy security, investing in our public services, and lowering bills for families and communities across the country.
