Many of you will know that this Labour government has committed to fixing the education system for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
I’ve spoken to many parents at my surgeries and on doorsteps. I know how hard they work to try and get their children the support that they need. Sometimes it feels like the system is working against them, and as a proud SEND dad myself, I firmly believe that parents and carers of SEND children should have their voices heard throughout this process.
I want to understand the full range of views on the future of SEND support, so I’m inviting parents and carers of SEND children in Southampton Itchen to join me for a virtual roundtable on Wednesday 20 August 2025 at 7pm.
After this roundtable, I’ll write to the Education Secretary to feed your views directly into the Department’s work.
Do bear in mind that this will be an opportunity to share your views, based on your own experience, on the future of SEND support in England. To make the most of our time, we won’t be able to discuss individual cases in depth but please do continue to email me if you would like support with your specific circumstances.
If you’re a constituent and would like to join, please register your interest by filling in the form below. One of my team will be in touch to confirm your place.
If you’re not able to join, you can also use the form below to share your views and register to receive news and updates from me about SEND reforms.
